"I'm not a doll, or a toy," Paloma seethes. Her head is a bit clearer; she steps away. "And I told you I don't want to be in the middle of your problems with each other."
"I'm not putting you in the middle of anything! We get along great, thanks." Which isn't exactly untrue, they may be very different, and that causes tension, but they can't hate eachother.
She's not ready to believe him after he went and slithered into almost kissing her smack on the neck, and had the nerve to put his teeth on her. His TEETH. And she'd shivered--
Her blood pressure and volume both threaten to rise. Stupid idiot Paloma, letting her guard down when he's just after one thing. She banishes the trace of desire to see how he 'plays'.
"Fucking with me as in trying to stick your dick in without thinking about how it changes anything. Never mind. It's not happening." Her eyes knife into Hyde. "What's my name?"
"Paloma. Vasquez, I think? I don't see how anything would change if we made out a little or even fucked." One point to Hyde? He takes up her hand to nibble a finger.
She yelps sharply. It didn't hurt in the slightest, but he and the jolt of heat the bite caused make her about levitate.
"Jesus Christ." Paloma tears way, wiping her finger off on the jeans and backing up too far for him to grab. "Pretending not to remember your brother has my number would work better if you hadn't just tried that line about practice! I don't say I'll go out with someone and then mess with their family!"
Her mind blanks in trying to examine that. They share? How much do they share?
It is so beyond what she's able to process under the stress of the situation that she forgets it entirely. She looks for the door he'd taken her through instead, finger tingling pleasantly. "Right. This was such a stupid mistake. Goodbye."
Paloma stops, failing to bottle her temper, and whirls. "You wanna know why I don't date? Selfish, reckless assholes just like you!" Men and women who don't care about consequences or who they hurt. She breathes raggedly in the effort to not go off.
Wouldn't you know it, as she leaves the hall leading toward the greenroom, Jekyll bumps into her, backward, as he escapes the grip of the crowd. He sticks out like a sore thumb, in a sweater vest and tie. It doesn't help that he's carrying a Tupperware container and bottles of water.
They don't bump gently together. It's a miracle they only ricochet a little bit, Paloma's air escaping her in an 'oof' and stagger. She's breathing too hard to have taken a casual walkabout.
"Oh!" she echoes. Her stomach churns. There he is. Hasn't called or texted, just... here. Her halter top suddenly feels ten times more inappropriate. "Oh, God."
"Ah, miss Vasquez!" He gives her a smile, and a little flush, accidentally. "What a pleasant surprise. Did you come to see Edward and his friends too...?"
He didn't think they'd gotten along, but maybe they ended up meeting again later in the evening and Edward made up with her?
No sound of a door opening in the hallway behind her. Last thing they need is Edward showing up and sandwiching her between Jekyll and a dumb place.
A few rapid inhales lower her blood pressure, or at least start to. Her head bows. "I, no, my boss wanted to do a pub crawl. Your... brother told her she had free drinks and dragged me back here to... to talk."
She looks pretty frazzled for just talking, but at the last second she realized a scolding might just worsen the matter.
"Oh, I see... Do I need to talk to him about his behaviour?" He frowns, unsure of how far he went with...Being Hyde. But Jekyll can certainly think of how he may have acted. Like last night.
Paloma blanches. "Only if you think it'd help..." As opposed to make him ever more determined to be naughty.
The truly miserable part of seeing Jekyll here and now is wondering if he'd chosen to lose her number after all, a paranoia harder to banish when he's right in front of her. She swallows, glancing at where she'd inked his arm exactly a day ago.
'Together'. She sighs, because she is a nervous fool and of course you don't invite a business contact to grungecore on the first date.
"I'm on the fence, but I could." Spurred by relief, Paloma lightly touches his shoulder but immediately retakes the offending hand to her chest. "I really thought you'd forget about me in a second. I was wrong to think that."
It's okay, he doesn't like it either.... The way he's dressed and distressed by the crowd should say as much. Her touch is nice though. "No, of course not, how could I! Should I have called today? I didn't want to come across as pushy, so I thought it best to wait until tomorrow!"
He gets her to laugh genuinely and openly for the first time tonight. It feels like letting go of a huge box of pressure all at once. She could hug him.
"You're asking me! I've never given my number out to anyone like I did yesterday." She sounds bewildered and giddy in one. A terrible impulse takes the wheel; Paloma caresses is cheek and leans onto her tip toes to kiss him sweetly.
In the midst of booming music and patrons, Jekyll flushes, very nearly too taken aback to return the kiss. But not quite. His hand falls on her elbow to suggest she stay. Until the door behind them opens suddenly and makes him jump.
There's Hyde, catching them in the act. "Oh, come on!" No kisses for him????
If she's attracted to Edward, then that must go double for Henry Jekyll, who wooed her in no time. He doesn't taste like the bar, or cigarettes, or all the rest of the nastiness of tonight. And she'd be content to stay on her toes, kissing him delicately, if not for his rude cow of a twin.
Paloma jolts onto her heels, whipping around to take a defensive posture. "What!?"

"No- yes, but no! That's not what I'm talking about right now, I... uuuuuuugh!! You don't listen or understand or!"
Enough. Paloma runs for it, putting him in her rear view mirror.
